You can also see where they are in the process of getting passed.

You can also search all legislation currently being proposed on key terms.

For example, there are currently 38 bills being proposed with the word ‘abortion’ in it. (However, you do kinda have to know what sort of language the bigots in congress use. Any shit on limiting transgender rights for example, will probably not include the word transgender).

My brain can’t even understand how people would agree to get rid of the entire department of education. I can’t.

This is scary

Thanks Al Jazeera, making depression accessible to the public

Jesus christ the whole EPA and Educational system. Like what doed that even mean, no public schools? What the fuck!

Like people are rapidly discovering with Brexit, it’s one thing to vote on a silly sentence of words ( “This bill terminates the Department of Education on December 31, 2018″) and it is a completely different thing to make that actually happen in reality-land where people live.

The Republican argument is that abolishing the “”””””bureaucracy””” of a federal department of education means each state will be able to take control of their children’s education, including budgeting and choosing their own curricula. On paper that sounds nice for about five seconds, until you remember what the states are actually like, and what kinds of curricula they’d set, and how much money they’d assign to children if nobody was actively forcing them to educate all American kids to a specific standard. The resulting educational inequality would see states simply falling off the map.

If the soccer moms notice this one, they probably won’t stand for it. I mean: Probably. Some people can read the sentence “each state will be able to take control of their children’s education” and somehow find that really positive-sounding.

The country is built out of words, but one sentence can’t quite destroy a federal agencyIt’s definitely something to get mad and anxious about, because fixing this kind of casual damage to structural legislature will take years, effort and money.
