Gender identity is
an inner
sense that someone might have of being a woman, man, or another gender.  

Some
people identify with their
biological sex. For example, when they were born, the doctor said, “It’s a
girl!” and the person identifies as a girl.

Some people do not identify with their biological
sex. For example, when they were born, the doctor said, “It’s a girl!” but the
person identifies as a boy or something else. One word for this experience is
called Transgender.

There are other terms that people might
use to describe their gender identity. It’s up to each person to decide what feels right to them.
