You know, @wizardsmagic , you really punted a solid gold opportunity with Battlebond, you know, the set that releases during PRIDE MONTH. You could have put in queer partners, had them illustrated by Terese Nielson, and then given the previews to two of your queer staff members, or like April King, or friggin’ William “Huey” Jensen (you know, your OPENLY GAY WORLD CHAMPION?). It could have been the ultimate confluence of queer Magic and you THREW IT AWAY.

Basically I’m saying you should hire me because clearly you need someone with a reasonable head on their shoulders.

Okay, this is valid, BUT…

Aren’t Gorn and Virtus also lovers? Or are they just two bros, chillin in an arena?

Not as far as I know.

Plus they’d get Zero points for making them gay because they’d be compared to Regna and Krav since they’re in the same context, and G+V’s relationship is 1) not anywhere NEAR as played up as R+K’s and 2) positioned as the evil heels compared to R+K’s baby-face. Finally introducing a queer couple and then in the same breath saying, “oh but isn’t this straight couple soooooo much better?” is poor form to say the absolute least.

pretty sure they aren’t allowed to do things like that because of Hasbro

what about… Kynaios and Tiro?

I believe they were allowed to do that because they were already introduced. Also pretty sure that they started cracking down on that stuff after commander 2016.

It’s really important to remember that the people AT wotc are very accepting and progressive, many also being LGBT themselves and they WANT to have representation and they still put it in as much as they can, but Hasbro tries its hardest to make sure it isnt blatant.
