feedback culture has rly died on here for content creators tbh
Gradually, it’s been declining, but i feel that right around the 1st few months of this year is when it rly took a huge plunge
Not only have i noticed this w my own art and stuff, but a lot of friends who create stuff have noted similar things. even popular artists and writers who used to get 5k+ notes per post are only getting a couple hundred. I used to get abt 800 per post and now im lucky if i break 50. 90% likes to 10% rbs.
Ppl say u shouldnt create just for the attention but damn spending HOURS on smth and getting little to no feedback when u used to get a decent amount is shit
This goes for fic authors too. We don’t get reviews much anymore, people just hit the kudos button and call it good.
Please leave feedback on creative content guys. Its super important.
Even if you just say nice things in the tags, anything would be nice.
I was hesitant to reblog this because I didn’t want it to look like I was begging for attention or something, but this is pretty real, guys.
Seeing tags, knowing people really are interested and want others to see your stuff too, it keeps your spirits up when you’re unsure of your work. All types of artists are obviously thrilled and grateful to receive likes, but feedback is essential on a social platform and for growth.
i think people have become hesitant at least partially due to that tumblr phase where comments were considered obnoxious. heaven forbid you reblogged someone’s post and added your own commentary where somebody else could see it! people got roasted for it all the time, and often by the OP themself. it always frustrated me because honestly, i’d be OVERJOYED if someone was moved enough to comment, even if it was to reblog a picture i drew with 20+ reaction gifs expressing their feelings. it’s sweet! why did it have to be made “cringy”? it’s not like they’re altering the integrity of the original post by adding their excitement on their own blogs.
there’s also the fact that everyone started acting like being openly emotional and positive about the things they enjoyed was uncool. there should be no embarrassment in telling a content creator how much you love their work! i, for one, can promise you that i’ll never make fun of you for being happy about something i’ve made, even if you’re afraid it’ll come across as “cringy”. i don’t care if it’s a heart in the tags or a fanfic/fanart or a meme or a 10 paragraph essay complete with every gif you have in your arsenal. i’ll just be touched, and i’ll want to make more content to make you happy again.
i’m shy, but i’m trying to give more feedback myself. i’ll leave a reply, send an ask (anonymous if i’m nervous enough), add tags, etc. that’s all you have to do to make someone’s day sometimes! don’t be afraid to show your appreciation. 🙂
