On Wednesday, Amazon announced a new service called “Amazon Key.”

The new product works with Amazon’s new Cloud Cam, an Amazon Key app, and a smart lock, to allow delivery drivers to drop off packages inside Prime customers’ homes when they aren’t around.

The kit costs $249.99.

Amazon says the delivery drivers are “thoroughly vetted.”

Suffice it to say, the reaction to this new service has been mixed.

Apple:Our ‘Pay With Your Face’ feature on the new iPhone might cause identity theft. What worse could we do with technology?

Amazon:Hold my beer. We’re helping home invasion.

This is the stupidest idea I have ever heard. We have doors with locks on them precisely to keep people we don’t know from ENTERING OUR HOMES.

You are all looking at this the wrong way. Like, im not telling or encouraging people to do anything. But a very specific kind of person buys from Amazon often enough that a $250 modification for their house seems not only reasonable, but convinient. A specific kind of person who earns a lot each year.

@commandtower-solring-go so… What you are saying is the next ‘job’ we should be looking into is Amazon delivery? XD

(I feel like this is on the realm of ‘eat the rich’ sorta thing x3)
